Unable to impress at her job interview, Gwen Connelly comes home to her equally unemployed boyfriend, Miles Moore. With bills piling up, and no probable opportunities on the horizon, the pair brainstorm. To Gwen’s dismay, Miles suggests returning to their previous jobs, though both being coy about what exactly that is. Gwen immediately shuts the idea down and moves on with her day, which doesn’t get much better. After reaching her breaking point, Gwen begrudgingly agrees to join Miles and go back to their old profession, for one night only: robbing a liquor store.
Having found a small, stand-alone, store, the two don their masks, tuck their guns into their waists and head on in. No cameras, four hostages, and a quiet night. The job seems simple enough, until Miles is shot in the shoulder by the 17-year-old clerk and son of the shop owner, Wells Winfield, in an attempt to protect the store. Wells willingly relinquishes the gun to Gwen and finishes gathering the money while Miles looks for a first aid kit in the backroom. Once Wells has finished putting the money in the bag, Gwen calls for Miles to leave. As she does, former store employee, Fletcher Wilson, enters, strapped with a bomb vest, in an attempt to also rob the store.
Miles returns to the news that not only has another player entered the game, but that he refuses to let anyone leave, due to being witnesses.
